The sounds used in Gladiators opening sequence 

The non-diegetic sound used in the background is very smoothing which implies the aim of this music is to help the audience feel relaxed.  However, then there is a sharp contrast, when the flow begins to move onto the battlefield, as there are diegetic sounds such a horses running and men shouting which is a voice over from the non-diegetic sounds. Which therefore conveys this film could suggest drama and sharp contrasts between characters.
