Shot types

The shot types used in gladiator’s opening sequence vary such as a close up shot is then used to give the audience a clear understanding of Crowe’s facial expressions helping the audience to become familiar and motivated by their character.

Also, by the use of an establishing shot suggests an interaction with the audience as it gives the audience an indication of the surroundings. Therefore, this makes the audience feel involved as it allows them to feel familiar with the narrative and in some circumstances the characters.
